"A staggering 35,000 people are involved in gangs across the UK. Gang Culture is a serious problem, especially with the rise of some incredibly serious crimes such as gang rape in the past few years."

 

The piece takes visual cues from punks and the anarchistic gangs back in the '70s, know for their studded clothes and iconic Mohawk hairstyles. The piece was designed to represent the emotions a gang member may feel. Tracing paper was chosen as a material to represent the fragility and vulnerability of certain members of gangs. The black spray paint exuding from the model conveys the emotions a member may feel; surpressed, although gradually creeping out until it reaches a critical point.
