No events at the moment

During the workshop you will create a totally unique ring for yourself or someone else. The workshop is suitable for complete novices or those who have had some experience before, as you will be guided through the designing and carving process as much as you need.

You do not have to bring anything on the day as everything you will need is supplied. Once you have carved your ring, I will take it to be cast in Birmingham, then clean it up ready to be worn! You will be able to collect your ring within about 2-4 weeks.

If you are unable to attend any of the dates shown, it may be possible to add more dates. Alternatively, if you have a group of 5-8 people we can arrange a private ring carving workshop. Email lisa@lisareason.com or use the contact form for more information.

FAQ's

How much is the workshop?

The two hour workshop costs £60. This includes everything needed on the day to make a ring. The price also includes hand-finishing the ring once it has been cast. It does not cover the silver casting cost.

How do I know how much my ring will cost?

To calculate the casting cost, we will weigh the wax when you are finished which will give us a fairly accurate metal weight. This weight can then be used to calculate the approximate cost of your ring. The exact cost will not be known until it has been cast as metal prices fluctuate. However, the average cost per ring is £10 - £25. Particularly heavy rings / double finger rings may cost around £30. Your silver ring cannot be collected until the casting cost has been paid.

How do I reserve a place for a workshop?

A £10 deposit is payable to the The Craft Studio.  The remaining £50 is payable on the day. After the workshop, I will contact you via your preferred method once the finished ring is available for collection. We can then arrange the return of your ring and payment for the silver casting cost.

Can my ring be made in another material?

Yes, it is also possible to have your piece cast in gold or platinum, but the casting cost will be more expensive.

How do I know the size of ring for someone else?

If you are able to, bring one of their rings along on the day. If it's not possible to borrow one, draw around the inner circumference of the ring and bring the drawing with you.

I don't know what to make?!

There will be inspiration boards for you to take a look at on the day to give you a few ideas to get started. If you check out the Pinterest page, there's a board with ideas for all abilities. If you have any inspirational materials, you're welcome to bring them with you as well.

Is there an age limit to the class?

The class is not suitable for persons under 13 as we use sharp tools to carve the wax. Anyone under 18 must be supervised by a responsible adult.
